Spring/Summer Updates
Including an online event and an in-person workshop!
Hello hello hello! I have used this platform (?) sporadically, but I wanted to pop in with some updates about my little book tour and some upcoming events and workshops.
Events
The My Great-Grandfather Danced Ballet tour has been a delight. My launch event in Montreal was an absolute dream, and my launches in Toronto and Ottawa were wonderful. Thanks to Sarah Burgoyne, Nate Yaffe, Lisa Richter, Terese Mason Pierre, Jake Byrne, rob mclennan, Manahil Bandukwala, Ben Ladouceur, and everyone who came out, bought books, and made these events great. Thanks also to Pulp for selling books at my Montreal event, and to Another Story and Perfect Books for hosting my Ontario events.
Coming up in May, I have events in Montreal (to launch On Occasion and for the Festival de la poésie de Montréal, Vancouver (with Leah Horlick, Estlin McPhee, and Lauren Peat — RSVP at the link!), and Victoria (for Planet Earth Poetry). I’d love to see you there! More info on my website or on my Instagram.
I also have a very special online event with The Brooklyn Rail — it’s on May 20 at 10:00 AM PST / 1:00 PM EST, and it would be great to see you there (virtually), especially if none of my in-person events are in your city/country!
Looking ahead to June, I’m excited to welcome Lisa Richter to Montreal for a launch at Pulp on June 4, and to launch my book in Edmonton on June 17 and in Calgary on June 18! More info on those events to come!
Workshops
Last summer, I offered three editions of my IS THIS PROMPT ABOUT ME? workshop. It’s a six-week experience in which each participants receives four ENTIRELY PERSONALIZED poetry prompts and also the chance to workshop one of their poems. I received really positive feedback, and so I’m offering it again this summer. The in-person edition will be at Pulp Books from Tuesday, July 21, until Tuesday, August 25, from 7:00 - 9:00 PM. For more info and pricing, please email me: misha.solomon@gmail.com.
Hope to see you at an event! Or elsewhere! Depending on who you are! I have so appreciated to support for and excitement about my book — know that it means the world when you reach out to say you liked a particular poem, or line, etc.
xo,
Misha
